"J. J. Hernandez is an American poet and a Colorado native. Hernandez holds an B.A. and an M.F.A. in poetry from the MFA Program Creative Writing at California State University, Fresno. He lives in Fresno, California. Hernandez has served as the inaugural fellow in the Laureate Lab: Visual Words Studio under the 21st United States Poet Laureate (2015 to 2017), Juan Felipe Herrera. Her parents' families had fled to Taiwan from China during the Chinese Civil War, before immigrating to the United States. Career In 2003, Chang joined the music faculty at the University of British Columbia. Chang composed a number of works for solo flute, including "Mirage II" and "Wrath". Her solo cello work, "Bloom", was performed at the Are You Brave, Too? Festival in Ann Arbor in 2000.
